The Biggest Interior Trends You Need to Know from Milan Design Week 2025

Milan Design Week and the iconic Salone del Mobile Milano have once again set the stage for what’s next in the world of interiors. This year’s event was a bold celebration of creativity, colour, craftsmanship, and connection - and it’s clear that the future of design is all about feeling as much as form.

Here’s our take on the standout trends from Milan 2025, and how we’ll be weaving them into stylish UK homes.

Playful Maximalism

Funk Rug

Subtle minimalism has officially taken a backseat, and a glorious explosion of colour, texture and expressive design has emerged in its place. From Louis Vuitton’s whimsical flower-shaped record player to Loewe’s artist-designed teapots, Milan was alive with playful maximalism this year - and we couldn’t love it more.

At Arighi Bianchi, we’re embracing this movement wholeheartedly. Playful Maximalism is about curated expression, not chaos. It’s the art of mixing patterns, finishes, statement lighting, and even bold artwork in unexpected spaces like kitchens and bathrooms.

Look out for deep emeralds paired with soft blush tones, terrazzo floors against sculptural brass fittings, and kitchens featuring bold splashbacks and coloured cabinetry. Playful Maximalism gives people the freedom to live with joy and let their homes reflect who they really are.

Reflective Metallics

Another dazzling trend from Milan was the return of chrome, aluminium and mirror finishes. Highly reflective surfaces were used to brilliant effect - not just for drama, but to manipulate space and light in innovative, transformative ways.

And it’s a trend that’s already gathering pace in UK homes. There are so many new and exciting products coming through that will see reflective metallics become a real game-changer for interiors over the next couple of seasons. There’s a real design purpose behind what we saw in Milan - the chrome finishes, the mirror-polished surfaces, and the high-shine silvers weren’t just flash for the sake of it. Reflective materials are like an interior design cheat code - especially here in the UK, where we often work with smaller, cosier spaces and greyer skies – bouncing light around, adding depth, and instantly lifting a room. A mirrored coffee table or a chrome-finished light fitting can completely transform a space, especially in a hallway or snug where natural light may be limited.

We’ll be using these finishes to inject a bit of glamour in a subtle, layered way. For example, antique-style mirrored cabinets, metallic side tables with smoked glass tops, or even reflective tiles as kitchen splashbacks. The key is balance. You don’t want your room looking like the inside of a spaceship, but a few well-chosen high-gloss elements can make your space feel bigger, brighter, and bang on trend.

A Beautiful Fusion of Fashion and Interiors

Milan made it clear that the worlds of fashion and interiors are more intertwined than ever. Top fashion houses brought their style DNA into home design, crafting collections that told stories through colour, texture, spaces, objects and mood instead of through fashion. Gucci reimagined its signature bamboo motif via collaborative artwork, while Dolce & Gabbana gave baroque print furniture a fresh new lease of life with its vibrant green and white print ‘Verde Maiolica’ collection, and Missoni Home's debut boutique launch further cemented the synergy between fashion and home décor.

There’s no doubt that interiors are becoming as expressive and style led as fashion. It’s not just about a logo cushion anymore, but more about bringing brand storytelling into the home through materials, colours, and emotion. We’re seeing greater confidence in colour, curated clashes, even the layering of textures, diverse fashion and the homes product designers are giving people the permission to be bolder at home. And it's personal, just like the clothes you choose to wear, the way you dress your home says everything about who you are

Craftmanship, Heritage and Human-Centred Design

Luka 3 Seater Sofa

Amid all the tech and glitz, Milan 2025 had a deeply emotional core: a powerful celebration of craft, tradition, and the human touch. Brands honoured their heritage by reimagining timeless techniques in new ways, with furniture designed to evoke feeling as much as function. The emotional side of design came through with organically curved new furniture lines and immersive, sensory installations - from layout to texture, everything was designed with mood and wellbeing in mind and a clear goal: to make people feel something.

Emotion plays a big role in home furnishings and décor, giving us the ability to create spaces that are deeply personal, and where every element is chosen with intention. Connection is the final piece. It’s about designing spaces that bring people together - whether that’s living spaces that invite conversation, a reading nook that becomes your favourite escape, or a hallway that actually makes coming home feel good. Good design shouldn’t just look human, it should feel human too.

Design for Humans might sound like a trend, but here at Arighi Bianchi, it’s the standard. It’s what makes a house a home. From handcrafted pieces that tell a story, to sensory design that invites comfort, the focus is on creating spaces that feel meaningful and connected. Expect to see more organic shapes, tactile textures, and furniture that prioritises both beauty and wellbeing.

And finally, Tech, AI & the ‘Connected Worlds’ Narrative

The role of technology in interiors is continuing to evolve. Milan’s ‘Connected Worlds’ exhibitions explored how digital innovations can blur the lines between physical and virtual spaces, creating deeply immersive and emotional experiences.

In our homes, smart tech will increasingly work behind the scenes, helping to create spaces that are not just functional, but also inspiring. Whether it’s intelligent lighting that adapts to your mood, or immersive home experiences enhanced by sound and light, technology is no longer just practical - it’s poetic.

Milan Design Week 2025 has shown us that the future of interiors is vibrant, reflective, crafted with love and above all, deeply human. And we’re thrilled to bring these bold ideas home, helping you create spaces that don’t just look good, but feel extraordinary.
