BBC’s New Film Club Series Shines a Spotlight on Our Macclesfield Store

We’ve had to keep this one under wraps for a while… but we can finally share that Arighi Bianchi has officially made its BBC debut!

🎬 We’re stepping into the national spotlight this week, as our iconic home interiors store features in the brand-new BBC rom-com series Film Club, starring Suranne Jones, Aimee Lou Wood, and award-winning Adolescence actor Owen Cooper. The six-part series launched on BBC iPlayer on Tuesday, with the first two episodes airing on BBC Three at 10pm on the same evening.

Our Macclesfield landmark, home to beautiful interiors for over 170 years, takes centre stage in Episode 3. Filming took place in our stylish bed department and instantly recognisable Caffè AB - with a few familiar corners of the store (and even our car park!) making an appearance. The crew also popped over to Picturedrome, Macclesfield’s vibrant food hall, to capture more of the town’s best-loved spots.

🎥 Behind the Scenes at Arighi

When the BBC location team first approached us, they said they’d fallen in love with the store’s character, architectural charm, and uniquely styled interiors - so naturally, we had to say yes!

“It was such an exciting experience to see our store transformed into a film set!” says Sarah Bianchi, our CEO. “The crew loved the look and feel of Arighi - they told us it had a real warmth and authenticity that made it perfect for the scenes they wanted to shoot. The whole team were brilliant to work with and it’s fantastic to see our store so recognisably featured on national TV.”

🕯 Spot Our Gorgeous Winter Nights Candle

In one memorable moment, Suranne Jones’ character, Suz, picks up one of our very own Arighi Bianchi candles, takes a deep breath and says, “Winter nights” - a lovely nod to our popular signature scent.

🛏️ And later in the episode, Josh (played by Adam Long) is spotted browsing our stunning Lily bedroom range, choosing a stylish chest of drawers to buy. It’s a scene that perfectly captures what we’re all about - timeless craftsmanship, beautiful design, and everyday inspiration.

More Than Just a Backdrop

During filming, the production team re-dressed parts of the store - even creating their own “sale” signage - while keeping our famous façade and signature style intact. Eagle eyed customer will also catch glimpses of Caffè AB and our East Entrance car park, complete with an Arighi Bianchi van making a cheeky cameo.

The whole experience brought such a buzz to the store, and our team loved watching the magic unfold.

“We’ve always been proud to be part of Macclesfield’s creative community,” Sarah adds. “It’s brilliant that the BBC team saw the same character and personality in Arighi Bianchi that our customers see every day.”

We’ve been part of Cheshire’s cultural and retail heritage for generations - and now, we can add a touch of television glamour to the list too!

You can catch Film Club streaming now on BBC iPlayer - be sure to look out for Arighi Bianchi’s starring role in Episode 3.
